19th June, Summer of 1993, the very first day of what was to become a nationwide famous event in the world of motorsport. Aimed at bringing back the electricity to this historically important venue, attracting motoring enthusiasts and garden party goers from all over the country for an unparalleled spectacle of history’s greatest cars racing for first place on the famous Hill Climb. A family friendly celebration hosted in the heart of the Goodwood estate by Lord March himself, the Festival of Speed (or ‘FoS’) is exactly what it sounds like – a celebration of exhilarating speed and exotic motor vehicles.
Expect bellowing engines and screeching tyres as the action all happens right at the tips of your toes. With just mere meters of manicured grass between the stands and the stars it is an up close and unique site for the eyes…
Over the years the ‘FoS’ grew quite the following, from its birth event hosting an already impressive twenty-five thousand to its present day attending of one-hundred and fifty thousand, attracting some of the biggest names in the industry and Hollywood A-listers with the likes of Bernie Ecclestone, Jenson Button, Keanu Reeves, Henry Cavill, Jay Leno and many more the event quickly escalated to international stardom.
